Sarah Smith

Sarah Smith has been a part of the SPBH team for six years and currently serves as the Grants Director. She previously held roles as our Program Development and Utilization Review Specialist, our Medicaid Compliance Officer, and the Team Leader for Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Forensic Programs. Before joining SPBH’s team, she worked as the Clinical Director for Total Life Counseling Foundation in Oklahoma City, OK, for five years. She has 3 years of' experience working as an Evaluation Associate with OCARTA on the CSAT’s RCSP (Recovery Community Services Program) project Sister to Sister from 2006 to 2010 as well as the Lead Evaluator on AWARE Oklahoma CMHS Statewide Consumer Network Grant. She served as a member of the Governor’s Transformation and Advisory Board as the Co-Chair of the Consumer Involvement Study Group until the end of the project in 2011. She was an active member of Oklahoma's Statewide Coalition of Advocates for Behavioral Health from 2007 until she relocated to Florida in 2015. She currently serves as a Board Member for First Coast Recovery Advocates, a newly formed Recovery Community Organization representing Northeast Florida, and the Florida Harm Reduction Collective, a statewide nonprofit organization.

Ms. Smith holds a master's in Human Relations with a concentration in Program Development, Social Justice and Change from the University of Oklahoma. Additionally, she is completing a second master's in social work at Florida State University. She is an Internationally Credentialed Advanced Addiction Counselor (ICAAC), as well as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor in Oklahoma, a Master Certified Addiction Professional, and a Certified Behavioral Health Case Management Supervisor for adults and children in Florida.

She has been an Adult MHFA instructor since 2017, also certified to provide Youth MHFA. In 2020 she received certification to provide both modules in the Virtual Blended format. She is also a QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Gatekeeper Trainer.
